Q. How can I obtain access to the Bishops Library archives on early Labrador history and borrow publications through interlibrary loans?

I am conducting research on the Buckle (my) family who came to Labrador circa 1984/85 as well life in general in early Labrador. Purpose: to write my family history. I am not a student or alumni member of Champlain College. I live in Ottawa and am a graduate of Carleton University, Ottawa.

Answer

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. I'm afraid that we do not have a large collection on Labrador and what we have is probably available in Ottawa. Our Archives specialize in the Eastern Townships of Quebec and we have only a small number of books related to Labrador history. Are you looking for something specific? You might wish to request specific titles through inter-library loans. If you are looking for Anglican Church records, there is a possibility that Labrador records are held here. You may wish to contact Mr. Jim Sweeny (jsweeny@ubishops.ca) for further information.

I hope this helps a bit. If you have any further questions, just let us know.

Regards

Gary McCormick
